Give Back
Dear Friends,
Each year, more than 1000 of our friends and neighbors seek the services of the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC). The average age of a child client is just 9 years old; in our 24 years of service, the oldest victim was 89 years old, and the youngest? Just 4 weeks. This is tough information to share. But that 4-week-old child, the 89-year-old woman and all the other victims in our communities need to be protected and told that their lives will be OK. Our clients are courageous men and women, boys and girls, who have had forced upon them a devastating physical and emotional intrusion that changes the course of their lives. And they are the mothers and fathers, the husbands and wives of victims who want to understand what their loved ones need from them. Some of our clients have come to us immediately after an assault. Many have suffered for years before finding their way to us. Each faces the long, personal journey from victim to survivor. We don't do our work alone. SARCC works with police, prosecutors, teachers, hospitals, doctors, nurses and a host of others to secure services and advocate on behalf of our clients. And we depend on a very special group of highly trained volunteers and contributors with big hearts to make sure that the victims of sexual assault have the professional care they need. If you think you have what it takes to become a SARCC volunteer, or want to contribute, please act today. If you belong to a group or organization that would like us to make a presentation, contact us at [email protected] to schedule an appointment. Sexual assault is an equal opportunity crime. It does not discriminate based on age, gender, wealth or neighborhood. That's why we need to work together to protect our community and support those who are victimized. Thank you, Jenny Murphy-Shifflet - President/CEO |
